SWITCHES AND SWITCHING<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Trainman to hand line all switches <strong>and<\/strong> verify point position<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To prevent damage to engines and rolling stock, yield to yellow clearance points marked on yard switches (#8 frogs)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All switches are to be returned to Normal&nbsp;position when work completed and leaving area\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>White =&nbsp;Normal route<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Red = Diverging route<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trainman to use a wand when uncoupling cars<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A gate is located at Shapiro&#8217;s Scrap Metal in Millers; assure the gate is completely open (outwards) before heading into the scrap yard; please close gate when work is completed and leaving area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>3. HEADLIGHTS, WHISTLE\/HORN &amp; BELL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Headlight should be illuminated on all moving engines; ProtoThrottles allow for DIM and full brightness &#8211; please use DIM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use caution when approaching public grade crossings and sound whistle\/horn\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Horn may cease when front of engine enters the public grade crossing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fusees protect the public grade crossing (Highway 61) in Ste. Genevieve. Pressing the two buttons will ignite the fusees for 10 <strong>real<\/strong> minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The engine bell may be used when moving about station facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4. OPERATION OF RIVER TRANSFERS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instructions and Rules for government of crews operating Steamer Ste. Genevieve and engines serving the steamer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aligning Boat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Before any movement of the boat, trainman shall first ascertain that all tracks have blue flags  set and secured to prevent car movement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Loading &amp; Unloading Boat<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The center track is worked first<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before pulling cars off boat, trainman shall first ascertain that track on boat is properly lined with track on apron and that the blue flag has been removed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engine speed must not exceed 4 MPH while shoving and pulling cars off boat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>General<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Boat engine or cars shall not stand on apron when boat is landing or backing away from the apron<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In serving the boat, steam locomotives must always be headed <strong>up<\/strong> the incline; <em>ie<\/em>, they must <strong>back<\/strong> down the incline at all times (not applicable to diesel engines)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Idler car must always be used while engine is serving the boat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maximum boat tonnage is 12 cars (maximum of 4 per track)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5. INOPERATIVE OR DERAILED EQUIPMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Crews should inspect moving trains during roll by for defects such as derailments, dragging glad hands, broken details or other unsafe conditions\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If defects are found, trainman shall notify crew and pink-tag the offending car with a Bad Order slip (available in cupholders) and notify the clerk or superintendent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Equipment in need of repair&nbsp;is to be left at the nearest company track; avoid leaving bad ordered equipment on private sidings or spurs whenever possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notify Superintendent immediately for serious issues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. YARD RESTRICTIONS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Yard limits extend southward from the Boat to the south end of Mosher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Northward trains should stop at the Yard Limits sign prior to Mosher and request clearance from the Yardmaster before proceeding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maximum tonnage depends upon the train; see the individual train orders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The A\/D tracks are primarily for use by Middle Yard; the Incline Crew may use the secondary A\/D track for run-around moves but should never store cars on these tracks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.&nbsp; SUPERIORITY OF TRAINS 2.
