The railroad generally operates 3 crews of 2 (Conductor & Engineer) for a total of 6, but it is flexible enough to work with 3 operators. There are 3 operating jobs and I’ve provided detailed instructions and descriptions for each (click on the job link below).
Each job position receives a set of train orders, outlining the steps needed to accomplish its tasks during a session. Orders are written using plain language rather than “railroad-ese” and serve as an agenda to guide operators in their roles.
As of 2026, a non-operating Clerk position is available. Those with interests in paperwork may want to consider this position. When the Clerk role is unfilled, the layout owner will serve in that capacity.
