When the basement was refinished, I took the opportunity to create a dedicated alcove for an externally vented spray booth. The booth is a Paasche HSSB-30-16 equipped with dual 6″ inline extraction fans that move 540 cubic feet of air per minute—more than enough to clear fumes quickly. Rattle cans can overpower it, but for airbrushing it’s ideal. The Paasche unit measures 31″ wide, 18″ tall, and 21″ deep, providing ample space for painting and weathering most O-scale freight cars and locomotives.

Next to the booth is a set of Ikea SEKTION cabinets – perfect for storing paint and airbrush equipment. These have an easy-to-clean finish in case of paint spills and come in a variety of drawer sizes.
