Previously known as Miller’s Switch, this locale had one small store and a rail spur that held ten railcars. Per the ICC Field Notes of December 31, 1927, there was also a milk platform located here, which was eventually removed.
Layout adaptation…
For this location, I invoked modeler’s license and transplanted an industry from a previous layout: the Shapiro Brothers Scrap Metal yard which was indeed served by the M-I, but on the Bonne Terre subdivision in Festus, Missouri. The Shapiro brothers (Leon & Earl) built a thriving business shipping scrap metal to the Illinois steel mills.
